Back at it again...

Well, I'm back from vacation, and it's time to blast off into full steam with deep focus on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012.

Vacation is always great, to get some downtime with my family. My girls love the beach, and the older they get the more they like the actual beach itself. Something about the ocean that always gives me a freshed look about life.

One of the coolest things this year, was the fact we got to watch live, the last ever shuttle launch, the Atlantis, blast off into space! We also got to hear the sonic boom afterwards, as it broke the speed of sound.

It was so very cool, and something my little girls, can always say they were there, to see the very last one. Here's to safe travels back home to the crew of the Atlantis, and the rest of those on board the ISS space station.

Here's also, to a great second half of 2011 to everyone. Can you believe it's already half over? Time flys by so fast sometimes.

Well check back, as I have all kinds of post coming out soon, as we continue to deep dive into Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, and more!

Why your Brain needs Vacations

With the summer season upon us, and for those in the Dynamics Ecosystem, the closing of the FY for Microsoft next month, it means go time. Everyone is working on several projects, demmand is hot, and work, work, work is the call.

However, I think all to often, especially in the U.S., we don't put enough value on downtime, and how important that downtime is for our families, and of course our brains.

So check out the following read.: CNN Health: Why your brain needs vacations

"Detaching from a familiar environment can help get new perspectives on everyday life, says Adam Galinsky, professor at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Consider that when you get advice from a friend, his or her suggestions are often more creative than what you would have decided for yourself -- and scientific studies have confirmed this. That's because your friend has psychological distance from the situation at hand. When you're in the middle of a problem, it's sometimes hard to untangle yourself from it to think about it clearly.

Similarly, many people have epiphanies when they travel because they can view their life back home from a more detached, outsider's view."

Now I know I've directed this at the Microsoft and Partner level, but this is for you the customer as well. Make sure and take time out, plan a vacation, go through with it, and do not work while on it.

So today, everyone stop for a bit, take a break, think about your vacation coming up, and if you don't have one plan one, even for a 3-4 day get away. It's very important to balance life, and this is something that should be considered of high value.

That's all for now, but I will be back with more AX directly related post tomorrow. Here's to the beach, and much deserved vacations!

Vacation

Well I will be silent for a week on the post. I am heading out on vacation with my family. It is a sad day though, so many lost in Japan due to the recent quake.

We need to keep those hurt and lost, and the families that lost someone in our thoughts and prayers. I know it's something said a lot, but it's the truth, and what we can offer best in a time where there is nothing we can do but react.

I will be back to my normal writings, week after next. Till then!

I just wanted to do a quick post about being super busy. It's year end, a lot of project work, and the 4th of July is coming up.

So I will be back in full force after next week, kicking off the new Microsoft FY2011, with some great post about Dynamics AX 2009 and 6.0.

Until then, have a safe a wonderful 4th!

thanks,
Brandon

Back at it - Plus ERP Rollout Survey

Well I am sure that maybe you have noticed, last week there were no posts on this blog. That's because I was able to escape from behind my computer, and sneak away to a little vacation with my family. It was fun, went by way to quick, and now it's time to get back to real life.

So with that getting back to real life, that means plenty of blog post. To help kick this off, I have a survey that was sent to me, or a link to a survey being conducted by SoftwareAdvice, Houston Neal.: ERP Implementation Strategies - Survey and Guide

This has actually already been linked too by a few bloggers in the Dynamics world, however I told Mr. Neal when I got back from vacation I would post this, and here we are.

This is actually more than a 4 question survey, and has some very interesting information on it.

Well that's all for now, but keep an eye here, as I have some great blog post lined up in the queue!

Back at it again!

Well Turkey week '09 has come and gone, and now it's time to get back into the grind.

Alabama beat Auburn again this year, in a close game. But a win is still a win! Roll Tide! We are playing Florida this weekend for the SEC Championship!

As for Dynamics AX and this blog, I will be getting back into the swing of things. I actually have a back log of post, since I did not post anything last week. So I have some good and interesting post waiting.

So check back soon as I get back to posting, and we get ready to close out another great Dynamics AX year!

Been gone for the week....

I just wanted to write and let everyone know I have been on vacation for this past week.

It was labor day, and the vacation time was all local based, but still good rest. This was good until the last day. I had to go to the doctor, and found I have a rotatary cuff injury that they want me to start theraphy for. And on that same day, yestrday, I was in the hospital the rest of the day because I found out my grand father needs open heart surgery right away or he will no live very long.

So my last day of vacation was not that great at all. Things happen in life, and you just deal with it. However any prayers for my grand father would be most helpful.

I plan on getting back to writing, and maybe even have a post later today. I hope everyone has had a great week.

See you soon!

Back again!

Well that was a nice long weekend. A good break, to take and get refocused. Sometimes we need breaks, in order to deliver our best work. So I feel refreshed this morning, ready to get back to things.

I have several things to focus on. For this blog, I will continue down the BI road for Dynamics AX, again going into more pratical uses of SSRS and OLAP with today's technology that you find in Dynamics AX 2009.

I will have post coming out about Role Centers as well, and also I will be starting a series on Performance Tunning your instance of Dynamics AX 2009. Creating a plan, and doing this to get the most out of your instance.

So there are plenty of great post coming. I also have plans for this summer to have more Microsoft interviews, including some with the product team about AX 6.0.

So check back soon and often!

Getting back to it

Well my vacation is finally over. It was so nice. I thought that I would get sometime and write some last week, however I was able to get some more fun in the sun instead.

This week is going to be super busy with my regular job, studying, and posts. I have ready a great post soon about BI. Also my interview with Microsoft execs will be coming out either end of this week, or start of next week.

I did hear this morning about Oracle is going to buy Sun in whole, for $9.50 a share. I wonder what impacts this will have on Open Source, Java and Oracle's and Sun's enterprise user's and platforms?

Well hope everyone is doing well this fine morning. Check back soon as I get back to normal writings, and we continue to move forward in our Dynamics AX world!

See you then!

I am still actually on vacation, but plan to get a post in still this week on SQL Server BI and Dynamics AX making use of that BI.

Hope your all doing well, and see you at the end of this week. After that, starting next week it will be back to normal posting, including an interview soon with two high level Microsoft Execs.

See you then!
