Reflecting back on this time last year

Its funny how fast time flies by. Its hard to believe, that next month marks a year since we had very severe and terrible storms cells that spun one of the deadliest tornado's to every hit the great state of Alabama I call home. So many lives were lost, and since then - still more with other storms and tragic events.

It so easy for us to take each day for granted, and trust me I am easily one that can raise his hand high and admit I do so all to often. We can get caught up in our professional work life, or whatever it is that we spend our so precious and little time on the earth. Looking back, to last year, you can see from the following post, that we were all affected in some way in this area, as well as the outpouring of support that we received from our fellow man.

It's strange to me, how little things, more than passing dates even, bring back memories and times of reflection. Just yesterday, my Mother gave me something that was saved during the total loss of their home. It is a pin, nothing hugely special or of any real monetary value to anyone. This pin however, was something I earned when I was 19 years old. It told the world, in a small way, I was a Microsoft Certified Professional for passing in January of 1999 the Network Essential's & Windows NT 4.0 Workstation exams.

Man I thought I was something back then. Being 19 only, and already a Certified Professional. How little did I realize how much farther I had to go, and still continue to strive and become better each day. Holding that pin, looking at it's now off-white background, and of course the old Microsoft logo, just brought back so many memories of all the years I've worked in this profession. It also represented something that no storm can ever take away. The spirit that our God, no matter what name you may refer to God by, graciously gives us. Further, though the pin be something so small, and physical it did help remind me that what matters the most is the treasures we create.

These treasures I refer to, have no value of gold or silver, or any real physical matter at all. Its the experiences, and the times we get to share with our family, friends and loved ones. Those moments that you can recall so easily, like seeing the birth of your kids, marrying the love of your life, or even down to a simple smile and nice gesture to a complete stranger.

Though this post has very little to do with helping in anyway with adding value to Microsoft Dynamics AX project, I thought it well worth the small time and effort it took to acknowledge all of this. To reflect on the past, the experiences and times we all get to share, and further to embrace what matters the most in everything we do, is those treasures we get to create and store up. Those moments of happiness when the pains of a go-live lose all bearing weight, and the struggles of learning something new products like AX 2012 - fade quickly away when reflecting against the more important moments of our lives.

I will end with, take the time to enjoy the moments you have been given. Realize, that these projects we all work so hard on, and spend so much energy on are really not about the technology, or some business process - but really is all about the people. That is what companies really are anyway right? People. Till Next Time!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well another Thanksgiving is upon us! Oh Turkey day - I come to slay thee! So a lot of food, family and friends. It is though a great time to reflect and look at all the blessings you have in your life.

You family, friends, and loved ones. Being able to provide for your family. Time together with those you love. So many things to be thankful for.

I for one am thankful for a loving God, YHWH - and Yeshua / Jesus Christ, or Lord and Savior. I am also most thankful for my kids and wife. They are the reason why I work hard. Then of course my friends, and family, including my Sunrise family. We have a really great time at Sunrise, and I am very thankful for being a part of them.

So what are you thankful for? What can you reflect on and what has value to you?

Weekly Words of Wisdom: Satisfaction in work

"A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God..." - Ecclesiastes 2:24 (NIV)

So I thought it was fitting, to write this weeks topic for the weekly words of wisdom about work.

Throughout the book of Ecclesiastes, King Solomon goes over all the toil, and chasing after the wind. Vanity, most of it is. We can all feel that way. We all have I am sure. Why do I work as hard as I do?

We can say for our kids, and family. Which is part of the truth. You work hard to provide for them, and hope you have give them moments they can treasure.

Still that is part of it. There has to be more, and that is what Solomon realized, something that comes from the hand of God himself. That a man, being a man, human of this Earth must toil to survive. And that there is nothing better than for that man to find satification in his work, his toil. That is a gift, from God.

We all have our down weeks, we all have our tough spots. But it is a great satisfaction, when you work super hard, and see that the work is validated and valued. That, you know you worked hard, and you can rest your mind of it, because your satisfaction came in the delivery of all your skills, thoughts, and talents for the job at hand.

So, not that we should over work, or become work-o-holics. Balance is still desired. Yet when we must toil, lets give it all we have, and get that gift of satisfaction of doing so.

I mean we must toil, we must work. So anything worth doing, is worth doing good an right. I find it to be a very thankful point, that God would care enough about us, to even be in the toil we take on. To offer us true satusfaction in our work, in our toil. Just think of what else he can offer you, if such a thing is imporant to him.

Weekly words of Wisdom: Being Humble

When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom. - Proverbs 11:2 (NIV)

A man's pride brings him low,
but a man of lowly spirit gains honor. - Proverbs 29:23


Humility brings wisdom, prides brings disgrace. After yesterday's post, where I found out I was on this Top 100 list, and as I was reading through the names on that list and typing my blog post, thinking about vainity and being humble hit me.

I have seen with my own eyes, through my own life that the above is very true. If you pride yourself up on the things 'you' have done, disgrace will follow. However being humble, does bring wisdom.

It opens yourself up to realize that it's not about 'you', but about God and those around you. Then you can learn, and gain wisdom, as your pride does not get in your way, and cause you lack of wisdom, which in turn will cause disgrace.

It's not that you can't be thankful, I am thankful to have been placed on that list. It's not that you can't enjoy 'a win' or victory of when a job well done has taking place. It's being prideful, in that 'I did something', and not really giving thought to who all was involved for you to be where you are.

You hear people giving glory to God on high. It's not just a saying, that is the boasting point. Without God, I would not have been giving the abilities, and the possibilities to even do what I have done. Without those in my life, my wife, kids, etc. I would not be supported and driven to work hard... trust me, I know myself. :-)

And without those team mates that help us with wins, overcome obstacles, that I am a small part of where we are all part of the team, then it would all be impossible.

So, being humble, I am so very thankful to YHWH God, Christ my Lord, my family, my friends, and my team mates. Not because my name ends up on a list, but for giving me the life experiences, ability to learn, love, cry, laugh, and create momments that are my treasures in heaven.

So this weeks words of wisdom, being humble brings wisdom, being full of pride will lead you to fall.

Proverbs 10:19

19 "When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise." - Proverbs 10:19 (NIV)

I was reading from proverbs today, going through and found the above passage. It really stuck out at me. I have read this same verse before, on different occasions and today it just called out.

Someone once said "God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. We should listen twice as much as we speak."

I think that saying is saying about the same thing proverbs 10:19 is trying to teach us. We should hold our tongues more, and talk less. We can learn more when doing so. We can *not* jump to conclusions when things are being said in haste, and in doing so reply in calm, collective wisdom.

I think this a lesson for everyone, YHWH God above knows I need it reminded to me. Our mouths can get us in trouble so quickly, and words can be just as sharp as a sword, and the wounds can last twice as long.

When we speak, we can either add to the value or something or take away from it. And the subject, sometimes, can be very personal. So I know I am thankful to have read this passage again today, and pray that YHWH God and Christ our Lord guide me so that I take this verse and carry it with me.

This way I will hold my tongue more, or Listen at least twice as much as I speak.

Proverbs 31:10

"A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies." - Proverbs 31:10 (NIV)

Someone sent me the above passage from the book of Proverbs. When they sent me this, they did not quote the verse, instead they pointed to the verse, and said be careful where your wisdom comes from.

They went on to add their meaning of this verse as good women can't be found, but good men are more abundently found.

However you can't read such a thing from the verse above. And if you read the entire Proverbs 38, you will see that this is from King Lemuel, and it was actually his mother's advice about standing up for those who can't stand for themselves, and to not be overcome with wine or beer. However give such things to those that are hurting and in pain.

Also for the point that the above, 38:10, this is the start of the Wife of Noble Character epilogue. In this, King Lemuel's mother gave him advice for what to look for in a wife. These are choice words from a caring and loving mother to her son. And for sure are wise words.

So I suggest reading the entire passage of things, before making assumptions about meanings.

And so today's focus on YHWH God, the bible and Christ is around Proverbs 38. It has great wisdom in it, coming from a mother to her prince, which became a King.

Earth Day - Celebration of YHWH God's Creation

Today is Earth day. A day to celebrate the Earth, our home. Home to all humans, and lifeforms that make up this most awesome place.

I mean just think about all the lifeforms that exists, just as you walk outside in your own yard. Close your eyes and just try to think of all those livings beings. It's amazing, and can help keep you humble, and thankful.

On this earth day, let's keep focus and give thanks to the creator of it. YHWH, God the Father, LORD your God.

Also one not mention there, but I thought was great to mention:

Joel 2:21-23 NIV:

21 Be not afraid, O land;
be glad and rejoice.
Surely the LORD has done great things.

The trees are bearing their fruit;
the fig tree and the vine yield their riches.

23 Be glad, O people of Zion,
rejoice in the LORD your God,

So on this Earth day, gives thanks to the one on most high. To the creator of all things. rejoice, and say aloud thank you for this day, that you have made of God.

I hope you all are able to have gotten some sun today, and can enjoy a little earth on this day.

Free Ticket - Admit one whosoever

Today when I went to the bank, I saw something off to the side. It caught my eye. It said:

FREE TICKET - Admit one to Heaven

This was a small little card, just sitting off to the side. I picked up a few and put them in my wallet.

When I looked at them more closely, there was another message on the front of the card, it said: SEE BACK

So I flipped the card over, and it had the following passages:

JOHN 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

ROMANS 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the
Lord shall be saved.

These may be very familiar verses to you. They may not be. They speak though one of the most high truths that we humans can cling too. The enternal salvation from our sins, through Christ Jesus - Yeshua.

I thought this free ticket fits exactly into the message that I hope each and everyone of you are able to hear, understand, and get --- espcially during the upcoming weekend. This is when we celebrate Easter, and that marks for us, on the third day the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords was raised up from the dead, had beaten death, held the keys to hell, and offered us the way back home... a free ticket to heaven. Do you have yours?

whosoever. That's what it says. It does not say, black, nor white, nor poor, nor rich. It says whosoever. That's the only requirement for the ticket, you being the whosoever.

I hope and pray, that this Easter is special, and that you keep with you the reason why we call it easter. Why we celebrate Easter. What the gift means. What it means to have a free ticket.

May your hope and joy spring forth from the greatest love that exists. From our Creator, and through his Son Jesus - Yeshua, Christ the Lord.

Merry Christmas: What is really means...

I know at times, the "Holiday Seasons" seem tough for folks. People get depressed and down, but it's only because of what our focus is during this time.

The commerical world around us, has really hijacked what should be a time for family, love and being thankful.

So with that, and with everything that I am, I give thanks to God on High, to our Creator, YHWH - YHVH (English Translation not exact you see, so both of them I choose to use here.) And the gift, the gift that should truly be reconized is our salvation, in that we find our savior Christ Yeshua, Jesus.

And with that, Merry Christ-mas:

Luke 2
The Birth of Jesus
1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register.
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. Happy Easter!

Well today is the first day of the week. The day in which we celebrate the third day, in which Yeshua / Jesu / Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

No matter where you are, physically, emotionally or mentally --- Out Savior lives, is alive, and it's all because of the love of our Creator... pure love, the greatest love, 'Agape'.

The love in which can be seen in many ways, and seen all around us. So I wish you a blessed, and wonderful Eater celebration. May we keep with us this day, for the rest of the year, until this day to celebrate comes to pass again next year. And then when this day comes again, may you be renewed in your spirit, through Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. May you continue your walk on this world, knowing that your Creator loves you... so much, that the Son of Man died for you.
